Angel's World

Angel’s Aisle Cottages is named in honour of Angelique Le Gardé - lovingly known as Angel - a young girl whose heart & spirit continue to inspire everyone around her. From the age of two, Angel has brought light and joy to those she meets, often described by teachers and friends as kind, funny, caring, and a truly beautiful soul.
At just six years old, Angel faced a rare and life-changing accident. As part of her healing journey, she channeled her experience into creativity, writing and illustrating "My Little Book of Worries", which was published when she was only eight. Her zest for life shines through in her many passions — from travelling and entertaining to stand-up comedy, where she won first place on an international cruise at age nine.
A lover of musicals, Angel became the youngest lead cast member in her school's productions, performing singing roles in both Year 3 and Year 4.
The Le Gardé family, based on the Gold Coast, found something serendipitous in Stanley — the cottages are located near Alexander Terrace, sharing the name of their youngest son, Alexander. For them, it's the perfect meeting place of Angel and Alex, a symbolic and heartfelt connection.
With strong family ties to Hobart, the Le Gardés' feel a deep connection to Tasmania — and through Angel’s Aisle Cottages, they’re proud to share that connection with you.

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride since 2020
-
The Starlight Children's Foundation since 2021; &
-
The Breast Cancer Network Australia since 2025.
These charities play an important role in the family's world. As Angel loves to help others, it is her idea to use the proceeds from the Mini Bar & Snacks to donate across these 3 charities.
The Box is an honesty system, so please either pay online for each item consumed during your stay or pay at Touchwood Cafe when departing for every item, as the donation could be assisting you or your family one day.

History of Angel's Aisle Cottages
Built around 1830, Touchwood Cottage is the oldest private house in Stanley. Originally a four roomed cottage constructed in Georgian style, the building and the surrounding ten acres formed one of the early private farms in the area.
The bluestone building material was shipped from England as ballast and was used in many buildings in and around Stanley. The shape of the original cottage can be seen from the southern side. The stone wall on the northern side originally linked the cottage to separate farm outbuildings, which included a kitchen and dairy.
The verandah and gable were added about 1900 and at this time the outbuildings were incorporated into the house, the kitchen being moved to its present location. The cottage called The Studio was the original farm dairy.
Previous owners of Touchwood include Henry Emmett being Secretary to the Governor & Secretary to the Van Diemens Land Company from 1854.
The Touchwood commercial building housing the Touchwood Cafe, and the Gardean Loft Cottage were built by Mark Leech and Ben Dixon in 1984. Other former owners have been Chris & Greta Blom. The Le Garde family happily became the new owners on Valentine's Day in 2025. Angel was conceived on Valentine's Day in 2014.
The Gardean Loft was originally used as a workshop, where they made craft items to sell in the Gallery which was part of the commercial Cafe building.
The Gardean Loft Cottage is now used as a family sized accommodation offer.
